Are you rightly related to fellow believers?

This Sunday at First Baptist
we will look at John 15:11-17
and ask ourselves the question,
"Are you rightly related
to fellow believers?"

John 15 deals with
three vital relationships
and
three respective duties.

What are they?

1. The True Vine - Are you rightly related to Jesus? 15:1-10
Respective Duty – to remain (abide)

2. Are you rightly related to fellow believers? 15:11-17
Respective Duty – to love each other

3. Are you rightly related to the world? 15:18-27
Respective Duty – to testify

What is our duty to fellow believers?

John 16:12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Jesus gives us our duty to one another – Love each other as Christ loved us.

Jesus loved us.
We were sinners.
We could not save ourselves.
He wanted what was best for us.
He wanted us to be redeemed.
He died in our place.
He took the death we deserved.
So we could be saved.
So we could spend eternity with Him and God the Father.

Our duty is to love one another just like Christ loved us.

We should say -
“I love you.
I want what is best for you.
What can I do to make that happen?
I am willing to sacrifice for you.”

My duty is to love you like Christ loved me.
Your duty is to love me like Christ loved you.
Our duty is to love one another like Christ loved us.

Are you rightly related to fellow believers?

Do you love them like Jesus Christ loves you?
